Sanwa Special Steel is a Japanese-owned company founded in 2013 by Dr. Iida Yasutaka. We seek to leverage the advantages of Chinese skills, experience and efficiencies in manufacturing. Then combine with Japanese research, technology, and passion for excellence in production. We currently produce around 800tons of clad steel for cutlery and tool industries in China and Japan. Our top customers include KAI， YAXELL and more in Japan.
We are the first company in the industry that successfully produced sanmai style damascus bars with Bohler M390 as core metal.
Our Director Dr. Iida Yasutaka has been researching cladding metal material since the 1970s. He has succeeded in solving the issue of carbon loss during the process of high-temperature laminating. He acquired the patent of “Manufacturing method of steel lamination for cutlery” from Japan government on 9th May 1973 (see attached photos of patent, recognition, and praise from the Japanese Government). This was the stepping stone for modern Japanese knife production. If you have ever bought or used a Japanese San-Mai or Damascus laminated knife, it’s because he made it possible, and affordable.
Dr. Iida and his team have been studying manufacturing, improvement of metal cladding material, and the process of heat treatment for the Cutlery industry. Dr. Iida and his team have outstanding skills in this field. You can utilize these resources as an excellent foundation to build your business on.
We not only sell high-quality steel to anyone who provides the best quality cutlery, but we will also look at sponsoring, recognizing, and potential preferential customer pricing for those who produce the most outstanding examples in their field of production.
